Director, Application Systems Development | University of Miami | Miami, FL

The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine has an opportunity
available for a Director of Applications Systems Development within the
department of Medical Information Technology located on our Medical
Campus. The Director of Applications Systems Development
provides leadership in administration, technical direction, and long
range planning for the Diagnostic Imaging Departments and other imaging
services. This is a top non-physician, administrative/technical
position within UHealth that will be responsible for coordinating and
directing the operational, financial and staffing activities if the CET
imaging group.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor degree in Information Technology or related
field, and five years in the IT/IS industry with extensive experience
implementing diagnostic imaging systems PACS, and experience
implementing and integrating to business/clinical systems. Candidate
must have an understanding of technical and programming concepts in
order to properly communicate the clinical requirements needed to
developers, both in-house and outside vendors. An understanding of
project management methodologies including utilization of project
management software and a high-level understanding of networking
topology and infrastructure to be able to properly communicate the
department's needs and requirements with the appropriate parties.
Interoperability experience with DICOM and HL7 developing, implementing
and supporting them across various systems, a working knowledge and
high-level understanding of relational databases. Vastly versed, but not
limited to, various operating systems, software applications solutions,
networking appliances, etc. Experience dealing with large scale
enterprise healthcare IT vendors like Cerner, GE, Phillips, and others.
Any appropriate combination of education, certifications and/or relevant
work experience will be considered.
